Addition to the Mickey mouse collection

Had been looking for Takara Tomy's Mickey Mouse solar set and found them in Ebay, hesistated coz defective product will be troublesome with shipping....

Managed to sourced them from OG China Town and bought a set off shelf....

BodyKit Fitment.....

Finally they body kit has arrived... mine was the first batch of bodykit to be fitted on the 3rd day. The first batch of bodykit started on 11 Aug 2009.

It was Good news and bad news... being the bad news is, the measurement has a little problem....

Sent my forte to leng kee to have the bodykit fitted. Met Just@Kid who was 30 mins before me... had a little discussion with on the bodykit and found that there are some obvious gaps that they could use silicon to cover up, but they tell us that its against thei practise, ok loh......
When my body kit was done fitting, I did a walk round check and found it wasnt fitted properly, reason being the measurement of the front and rear bumper isnt up to standard... I immediately told MACH Accessories and they took down the defect and promise they will give me a answer on it... shall wait for their phone call .....

Was thinking that if a pro want to steal my car, no alarm in the world can stop that bugger, so got a cheap alarm just to scare some noob off....

This is an "add-on" alarm, its able to work with the stock remote's module.

Been sourcing around for cheap LED and not just cheap but good and bright ones.... People are so smart with leds mod now that instead of using the normal bulb from the cabin light, they mod the bulb to be a dummy to juiced up a small board of LEDs to light up the cabin area.

Aircon Insulator DIY

Insulator and adhesive were gathered by a member, SpicyRed.
$4 each for a set.

The forte has a weird design in the aircon system, they didnt remove the hot system when they ship to Singapore, the aircon is intermittent on delivering constant cold, but that was just a small issue. From that, people actually thought of ways to improve the performance of the aircon system. I believe Forte is the first car that is very well know for its DIY Air con pipe mod now......

This is infact the 3rd DIY session for Forte group

There should be around 15 cars in this DIY session, it was at Alan, Keigo's MSCP...

The mod was to use air con insulator to wrap around the cold pipe and use some adhesive to close up the insulator, the problem was bending down all the time and accessing in those hard to reach areas....

The purpose of insulating the pipe is to prevent cold pipe from losing its coldness to the engine bay's heat.

Some buddies ....

Done with the Mod, after 3 ride I was able to feel the difference... The cold air came faster and maintain longer compared to last time where cold air came slow and temp raise fast and compressor had to work again to maintain the cold temp.

Rikecool Solar film with rainbow effect

Cycle & Carriage Kia had given Forte owners Rikecool solar film. Wasnt satisfy on the first week of car collection n went back with bubbles all over 2 rear passenger window and rear windscreen. IT was a different grade from the front 3, much darker and with pink rainbow effect which look damn ugly. The "xiao di" ask me wait 2 more weeks for bubble to settle or he will come down personally to my location to do it for me.

2 weeks later bubble still there, this time over the phone the boss, David, spoke to me. He understand how much i dislike the rainbow effect n ask me to drive down for him to see and explain the different grade of film that will suit my taste...

Went down today and he give me an introduction of the grades and offer to match my taste despite only left some bubbles in the current situation to face for another 10 yrs. I asked for the same grade as the front and he offer a second layer of dark film to be add on 2 weeks later.

I like the way this boss do things, he was nice to introduce all the grade to me n try his best to match my taste... Ups for him :)

First time driving our forte into mysia's 2nd link for petrol and makan at GP town, was so surprise to see friday evening 8pm to be so empty at 2nd link, smooth in n smooth out...

Alignment test by KIA's Sub contractor

Was feeling the car moving to the left on expressway again after the 1K servicing. Called them up the next day to asked how they did the check. According to them, a simple alignment check was carry out and a road test was done to make sure the alignment is not out.

So i told the mechanic supervisor Mr. Khoo that when a customer complain the car has been moving to the left all the time, there is something wrong. In the end he agree to do a full test which they were reluctant to earlier because they have to pay the sub con. so they have to make sure the alignment is really out.

I was pissed because they wasted my time to go down for a second time, time lost, time wasted and effort wasted.....

report were out, alignment had some errors but was still within the + - tolerance, they still go ahead to adjust as close as possible to the perfect measurement.

Forte's 1K servicing.

I didnt have time for the 1k servicing for the rest of the week so i booked on 30 june where its only 868km on the odo reading

Things I highlighted :

1. Steering wheel noisy when doing full left turn
2. Cable around accelerator padel
3. Knocking sound at the front wheel when going over hump
4. Hand Brake too far when engage
5. Boot release stiff, sometime cannot release
6. Solar film has bubbles
7. Air con not cold
8. Left leg compartment hot
9. Car banking to the left when driving on straight road.
10. Wheel to body clearance different on left and right side

Things they solve and done:

3. manufacture defect, damper was attached at the suspension
4. Tighten

Things they didnt do:
1. They claim it was not noisy

I wasnt satisfy with the way they brush away the car moving left, have asked the mech to call me to discuss on this issue. The aircon and left leg compartment has appear on all the fortes, so there is nothing to do but maybeto insulate it.

Alarms and remotes...

Had been wondering how difficult or easy to install an alarm system.

Remote function that can:
1. Lock/unlock doors
2. Arm/Disarm security system
3. Boot lid release
4. Start/stop engine

Was looking how to tap the alarm system to the stock receiver so i dont have to use the alarm's remote but instead, use the stock remote. There could be a way to do it. Piggy back the alarm device on the stock receiver that is connected to the Body control module.

Was reading to Forte servicing manual on page 1086,

Body control module(A) receives various input switch signals
controlling time and alarm functions for wiper control, tail
lamp auto cut, front fog lamp, IGN key hole illumination,
buzzer control, seat belt warning, key operated warning,
ESCL warning, defogger timer, front deicer timer, power
window timer, door lock/unlock control, trunk release control.

Grills and Horns

Always think that stock horns aren't loud, decided fix up additional electrical horns.

It wasnt easy to remove the forte's grills, initially i tot the 4 quick release was easy to remove, after removing, i realise that the grill still wont come off, after spending some time looking at the internal, I saw there were more screws from behind the grills and i do not have the tool to remove it from the confined access.

Went over to homefix to get those L shape dual head philips and GS. With that, I was able to remove the first 2 screws from the top. And using the chubby philips, I was able to remove the bottom 4. Despite all these, my hands and arms still has to squeeze thru the grills small opening at the top, sustaining abrasion was unavoidable .....

Grill and stock horn removed, I wanted the stock horns to stay, so I tap a wire into the stock horn wire for triggering the electrical horn relay.

This is how the Grill look like, I removed the emblem thinking it will look nice without it, however, I was wrong.....

The emblem only has 4 legs holding on to the grills. If u were to remove it, u had to bend the part holding the legs, and push the legs out of the grill.

It was damn bloody messy so I didnt want to take photo on how to set it up, bro "nocash aka Andy" was with me all the way, he drove me to get the brackets and assisted me with the horn setup. Thanks bro Andy....

Black Dots.....

There were pouring 2 days ago... There were black water marks on the bottom area on the 2 doors .... Wash car today and after drying, alot of black dots all over. Was pissed n took alot of time to clear the dots.....

Been driving around for almost a week, the worst was 14+L/100KM. Today was almost 80% on highway and it came out to be the best of the week of 8.8L/100KM

Defects of the new Cerato Forte

New model car first batch bound to have problems here n there.

This is what i found:

The front wheel got knocking sound, apparently, according to forte forum members, the hilighted to KIA and KIA Korea, the problem was a faulty bushing at the suspension. This will take some time to solve.

This morning, I found 1 wire from under the driver dash board was hanging down and went 1 round over the accelerator pedal, lucky its not tight else pull the wire dunno what spoil.

The bluetooth buttons wasnt stick properly, keep droping off.

Tyre KPA is around 340 on all 4, thats ard 100kpa more than standard, 2 of the members in the forum has claim tyre bust but cant confirm if the reason is because of that. The only reason I can think of why KIA techs. pump so high was for storage and sending overseas. But they failed to release the pressure to the standard value when they give customers.

Some tech issues: when i off air con, the circulation keep changing to outside vent air. When i start engine I have to manually press back to circulate inside. But if i didn't off the air con this wont happen.

1 more horrible stories from forte forum, drivers of the new forte has experienced sudden chip cracks on the driver wind screen, and a few days later the entire wind screen is covered with cracks spider lines, 1 guy even experience twice even after replacing the screen on his first crack. Hope this dont happen to me....

The other story was baise on clicking sound on the steering wheel when turning, mechs from Kia claim its the clocking spring but someone else found its the air bag fitment.... this is yet to be confirmed....

Padan Garden C&C New car collection centre

After my car agent smsed me yesterday to collect my car today, went for medical appt and then to padan gardan to collect my car. The Odo reading was low 12km and had 1/2 tank of petrol. Everything is working properly, paint no stains or scratches, signals n lights all working, spare tyres and tools in. Sun flim was all sticked but the rear 2 passenger windows has bubbles, will wait 1 week and if bubbles are still there will call shawn and as her to send in to redo the films.

My agent Shawn smsed me on 9th asking me to do my payment as my car was here from kimchi land! she smsed me again yesterday, 15th June that my car was registered with LTA and my Licence plate number was allocated! Jean and I were very happy with the number and we really like it alot.

I check under onemotoring and the details of the vehicle was there, I immediately print out the electronic log card and went down to housing board to purchase my season parking.

Certain carparks in Sengkang has problem with getting season because of the limited parking lot allocated. Mine was bad, I had 1 underground carpark sharing with 4 blocks, the lots were only enuff to fill 3/4 of 1 blocks of owners..... That is why I personally had to bring my documents stating that I am staying at the apartment of the carpark that I was going to buy the season parking for the car that I own. These are the 3 reqiurements that had to be met before I am eligble. The parking timing is 10.30 pm onwards is 100% season parking only.... sucks!

Buying a car: How it all happened

For years, my wife had been bugging me to buy a car, it wasnt appropriate then, there wasnt a need for 1.

Few months ago, We decided it was time to get 1, I'll be ending my 10 years career in Airforce and I wanted to get a job with vehicle allowance, not to mention we are planning to have our juniors. Having a covered steel 4 wheels will anytime be safer then on 2.

We looked thru a few affordable cars and narrow down to the newly launched Kia Cerato Forte. Booked thru Andy and Audrey's close friend, Shawn, on 31 March 09. we had a good deal.

Coe was bidded successfully on 22 April 09 and today, received a call to inform the stock has finally arrived. Collection will be proceed in about 2 weeks time.

This bike turned into my "kar ta" bike. I didnt know until I brought it to planet to service and think thru dunring the last servicing till now, how my bike was being treated.....

I've installed an electric hone some months back, it was very. I plucked out the stock and just leave the electric hone in the same place and plucked in the wires.....

After I had my chain tignten, paid and rode off thinking will this bike be just a kar ta for the rest of its ride.............

I sold my busa 6 month earlier thinking there wont be much of any long dist. trip. Was a little disappointed when I've heard Raymond/Mav , Charlie/Johnny had their long distant blasting (insane speed) trip. Both of them were heading at least to Thai borders. I could have followed them with my busa if I didnt think how much 6 months could assist me in finanace after selling off the bike. Thinking back on how those full throttle journey and endurance long distance trip, there were so much fun catching up with one another and pulling hard G-force corners...... Those were our days.....

Now I just want to wish them a safe enjoyable trip and hope they bring me presents!! haha

After borrowing Shawn's pink fino for 3-4 weeks, I'd to return it to him since I got my X-1R. I could return him earlier but I want to ride with Jean to make sure she is ready for the road and is able to get use to handling the X1R well. We road both the fino and X1R individually 1 last time to Shawn's house and parked his fino, there I pillioned Jean back home....

I've been irritated with the X-1R stock horns..... sound like duck queking.......

My X-1R isn't in a very good condition. Mileage was a little on the high side when i bought over. Finally had time to ride down Planet for servicing today. The chain was very loose and wheel was already pushed to the max. Sprocket worn n sharpen already. Stock IRC Rear tyre is "botak" so got a TT900 for better grips.

I dont really know the price for all the items, but in total, was charged $123.

Swapping box n forgot the plate

A week ago, while viewing the 2 X-1R at the owner's warehouse, very quickly I've decided on the black one. I've always like black compare to red, I dont know how can someone(AKG) loves red so much.

Anyway, the black X1R had a very dirty n broken box, I request to have it swap with the red's. Swapping both n easily fitting them on the other bikes, I happily rode off my X-1R.

Was half way near the express way when i hear a loud "TOOOONNGGG" Shit the box dropped out. Stopped half way and retrieve it back(thanks to Shawn) Was thinking what was wrong, then I remembered I didnt swap the box plate. Didnt bother to go back to swap coz I didnt had any tools.

Just went back yesterday n had the plates swapped(help of Desmond). Tried the box again this morning n now it fitted nicely, no dropping off with hard shaking (tested)

With Jean's name on the Black Bi§hop, and Shawn's pinky still with me. Jean and I had many rides together, she was always smiling when she rode with me, each on 1 bike, riding together. We really love this feeling.

The next best thing was, 1 day, riding pals were with us. We had at least 3 couple riding their own bike each, so its 3 Girls & 4 Guys on on 7 bikes! Cool!!! Not to mention we've got AKG as the captain showing us the way.... but no matter what, a new trip alawys got people lost heheh ...

I tot after I sold my Hayabusa, there wont be anymore blog on bikes. But after Johnny said that "you're gong to start a new blog for ur X-1R" I was like thinking, a blog on my X-1R would help me keep track on servicing infos, and new interesting journey on our X-1R. Jean's the Co-owner.
